World Changer! Marty C. Lee! #WaitByTheGate #ChooseLight

When you use your dollars to purchase books, movies, or any other form of entertainment you influence the world.  Our purchases of clean and inspirational work coupled with well-told stories and inspirational books can create change and make a statement.

Thursdays, I like to feature authors committed to writing clean or inspirational books like Marty C. Lee, author of the Unexpected Heroes Series. I asked Marty why she chooses to write only clean fiction. Marty's answer gave away her wonderful sense of humor. She said:

"I like reading books that don't have ickiness in them, so that's what I write. My motto is "Hope, Humor, and Happy Endings."

I knew I liked Marty when I visited her blog and read her Thanksgiving reading list. She included one of my all-time favorite audiobooks, Chickens in the Headlights, by Matthew Buckley (Biography. Also hilariously funny).

About Marty C. Lee

I asked Marty C. Lee to tell me a little about herself. Marty said her characters take over her brain on a regular basis. If you catch her muttering to thin air, she’s probably arguing with one of her characters. She has learned to keep a notebook by her bed to jot down ideas so she can go to sleep and deal with them in the morning. In between writing and spending time with her family, she reads, embroiders, gardens, and teaches small children at church. She prefers walking over bicycles or cars, because her feet are less scary. (If she walks, she can read at the same time, which is a nice bonus).

World Changer! T.K. Perry #WaitByTheGate #ChooseLight

Thursdays, I like to feature authors committed to writing clean or inspirational books like T.K. Perry, author of Elissa Blue: Book One of The Winged, Published by Scarlet Note Publishing. But, I rarely get to go to lunch with the author!

T.K. Perry was among a group of Oregon and Washington authors I met for lunch at Hawthorns Fish house. Although we were all meeting for the first time, it was like meeting old friends. Authors... I am learning to spot them, even when they aren't in a convenient group. Predictably we all read a ton. We also think constantly about our stories and the characters that haunt us. But, I wouldn't have predicted that four of the five authors at the table would be gluten and dairy-free!  T.K. Perry is creative, hilarious, and as pretty as her picture inside and out. She has common sense and a writer's soul. She lives a life of adventure, seeking the most beautiful spots in Oregon and Washington to raise her family, and her daughter is evidence of what a great mother she is.

I have to take a moment to say what a pleasure it was to meet a young person who was invested in her education, and lit up like a Christmas tree when she talked about what she was writing. Someday, in the future, I hope I get to feature a book by T.K. Jr. She was a credit to her mother.

About T.K. Perry, Author

T.K. Perry lives with her husband and daughter in a lovely Oregon forest filled with wildlife (there is probably a house, too, but that's less picturesque). When she isn't writing or watching said wildlife, she enjoys making jewelry, pretending to be a photographer, and trying to save the world (a frustrating task since she lacks both superpowers and a costume). T.K. received a B.A. in International Relations from Brigham Young University, an M.A. in International Politics from the University of Denver Graduate School of International Studies, and a J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law. She is currently working on Book Three of The Winged series.

World Changer! Ava S. Quill #WaitByTheGate #ChooseLight

Every Thursday, I like to feature authors like the fascinating Ava S. Quill, who chooses light and commits to creating only clean or inspirational books. Ava is the author of, Love Is a Wistful Song, a fun clean young adult romance. Ava’s book is creative and intriguing. I asked Ava why she writes clean books. She said:

“As I was trying to find more fun but clean romance to read as a young adult, I was really struggling to find content that would help me live in harmony with my religious beliefs (chastity). And that is how, at least, this story started. I wanted to write an exciting, romantic story that a girl of any age could read.”

Doesn’t that make you wonder just how young Ava is? Just who is Miss Quill? Or is she a Mrs? I did a little Instagram stalking and was enchanted by her posts. I highly suggest wandering through her social media artwork.
